REVIVAL DARK HEAVY ROOTS REGGAE .

SOUNDSYSTEM CULTURE SELECTIONS.
-----------------DOUBLE MIXTAPE 2H -----------------

ROOTS ROCKERS FOREVER
1- Rothadam - I Was Born To Be A Rebel
(Obscure late seventies roots out of Canada).
2- Tenna Star - Solid Foundation.
3- Jah Wari mix - Dub Foundation.
4- Milton Henry s - Gold Digger
5- Dub (extended mix)
6- Kendrick Andy – Out A Sight (extended mix)
7- Rastafari Syndicate - Upfull Dreadlocks/Dub.
Anthemic dubplate from the 80s era. killer vocal cuts to King Step.
8- Junior West - Splash It Out / version
Originally released in 1982 this raw roots tune quickly sank without trace and became a highly sought after rarity over the last few years commanding huge prices on the oldies market. Dead slow drum and bass style with lyrics outlining Mr West's enthusiasm for then tops sounds including Gemini and Jack Ruby.
9- Desi Roots - Nature Boy (extended mix).
Tuff adaptation of the famous Nature Boy best know perhaps from Nat King Cole's version back in the fifties.
10- David Jahson & Salute - Rock My Soul / Version.

ROOTS ROCKERS FOREVER II

1- Earl Lowe (Little Roy) - Jah Can Count On I / Dubwises.
The killer steppers version of Little Roy's great tune, covered by Freddie McGregor.
2- Henry Milton - Salvation (discomix).
3- MIikey Dread - Voice of Jah.
4- Silvertones - African Dub / version.
(1977 rockers update of Rejoice Jah Jah Children.)
5- Fabian - prophecy (dub discomix)
Some tunes never get old. The song is written and sung by the late Fabienne Miranda - the spelling of her name appears in various permutations - a Californian poet who moved to Jamaica. She cut two songs, Prophecy and the lesser known but no less crucial Destiny for Ruby, with its brooding melody, strident vocals and lyrics and monumental bassline, becoming an instant roots classic.
6- Monyaka Band - Rocking Time / Dubs
If Brooklyn based reggae / disco band Monyaka are remembered for anything these days, it's probably for their big 1983 crossover hit Go Deh Yaka. This track however dates from earlier in the decade and along with Do You Know - also available - is a deep 'n' dark rootsman favourite.
7- Rastafari Syndicate - Children Of Israel/ Dub.
